Numerical reasoning: Worked Practice and Mistake Review
Percentages, ratios, rates and data interpretation used in everyday business decisions.
Use the examples below to examine the reasoning process before practising under a timer. Erudex offers three fixed papers per section, each with ten questions and a twelve-minute limit. Sign in to begin a paper; explanations appear after submission.
Key points
- •Explain the method before inspecting the key.
- •Review guessed answers and missed questions.
- •Interpret repeated-paper improvements cautiously.
Worked example 1
Weekly support tickets were 26, 36, 20, 38. What is the mean number of tickets per week?
Answer: 30. 120 ÷ 4 = 30.
Before checking the answer, write your reasoning. After checking it, explain why a different choice would fail; this distinguishes a reliable method from a lucky selection.

Move from worked examples to timed practice
Complete a paper without looking at explanations, then review incorrect, guessed and unanswered questions separately. Record accuracy and completion time. An improvement on a repeated fixed paper may reflect memory, so keep that limitation in your review.
For candidate screening, use scores with job-relevant work samples and structured interviews. These practice papers have not been established as validated predictors of job performance or clinical ability.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I use these practice scores as an employment decision?
- Do not use a practice score as the sole hiring decision. Consider the role, accessibility needs and other relevant evidence.
